In these times of need, let’s reach out to help someone.  The Marshik Insurance Agency will be sponsoring a Food Drive to help our local Food Shelf from Monday, October 3, 2011 through Friday, November 18, 2011.  Please drop off your donations at our office located at 501 First St. SE, Little Falls, MN – Right across the street from Maple Island Park.  Cash donations are always welcome too as they can buy products needed for a much reduced cost.  Every little bit helps.  Thank you!

There are many activities going on in Morrison County from August 5-14, 2011.

August 5, 2011 – GRAA Exhibit Opening “Evolution” – Women honoring the past..embracing the future” – 7-9:00 p.m. at the Great River Arts Center Main Gallery 122 1st. St. SE, Little Falls, MN – call 320-632-0960 for more details or go to http://www.greatart.org.

August 6, 2011 – Royalton Platte River Day – Parade at 10:30 a.m. with a unique auction after the parade.  Street Dance 8:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. This family event includes:  Turtle races, kids tractor pull, plastic duck races, street dance and much more!  All in Royalton, MN

August 6, 2011 – Children’s Day at Lindbergh Historic Site – 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., children can learn to paint from master artist David Geister, who will be leading a painting workshop on paper plate painting.  Kids can try their hand at recreating birds, flowers, and bees that were found on plates and bowls of the priod.  Families will enjoy touring Lindbergh’s boyhood home, sitting in replica cockpit of the “Spirit of St. Louis” and experiencing hands-on exhibits in the visitors center.  Fun for all.

August 7, 2011 – Little Falls Senior Center Craft & Bake Sale – 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Take part in supporting the Little Falls Senior Center by attending this hand made craft and bake sale.

August 7, 2011 – Pierz St. Joseph’s Church Bazaar from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Start your day with a festive mass at 10:00 a.m. and follow it up with a chicken and ham dinner.  Many other activities including bingo, raffle, food, fun and games throughout the afternoon.

August 7, 2011 – Great River Arts Assn. Summer Concert Series from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Maple Island Park in downtown Little Falls.  These free concerts in the park are a wonderful way to enjoy a summer afternoon in Minneosta.  Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the music.

August 11-14, 2011 – Morrison County Fair – Held at the Fairgrounds on 15575 Hawthorn Road, Little Falls.  This is a traditional county fair including 4-H exhibits including livestock, community entries, carnival, commercial exhibits, live broadcasts and much, much more.  For more information, call 320-632-1040.

Head on over to the Green Fair Folk Festival at the St. Francis Campus, Little Falls, MN today, August 3rd. from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.  It’s a FREE family-friendly event that promotes a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.  There will be exhibits featuring earth friendly products, health and wellness, Earth education, Fair Trade and Organic and much more.  Live music including Fiddle Festival, James Pennington, Club Ramon,  Sestri,  and U Rock Bands.  Also family activities including affordable food, entertainment for all ages, creative kid’s activities and a teddy bear clinic.  There will also be a Compost System Giveaway!  Turn in a completed “Bingo” card for a chance to win.  Valued at $250.  Bring your own chair, umbrella and water bottle and come to join in the fun.

Keep your calendars open for National Night Out on August 2, 2011 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Little Falls Fire Dept.  There will be a cook out sponsored by Coborns.  Agencies that will be participating will be the Little Falls Police Dept., Little Falls Fire Dept., Morrison County Sheriff’s office, North Air Care, Gold Cross Ambulance, MN State Patrol, and the Camp Ripley Fire Dept.  Sounds like lots of fun.

Halfway Jam:   Halfway between Royalton,  MN and Rice, MN you will find this 3 day event filled with classic rock bands and the winners from the Jammin’ Idols contest.  This outdoor concert also has camping available.  Held Thursday, July 21st. through Saturday, July 23rd.  For more information call 1-877-425-3526 or go to www.halfwayjam.com.

Join the party to honor county residents 75 years of age and older at the Buckman Parish Center on Tuesday, July 26, 2011.   Each coffee party will feature history from the surrounding region of the county.  This open house format, with guests of all ages invited to drop in between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. is free of charge and open to the public.

The Marshik Insurance Agency is a proud sponsor of the Little Falls Dam Festival to be held June 17-19th, 2011.  Come and support your community and take part in all of the planned activities.   The Dam Festival is held annually at Maple Island Park in Little Falls, MN.  It focuses on the history and heritage of the Little Falls area in connection with the Mississippi River and the dam which has supplied waterpower to central Minnesota for over 150 years.  The festival celebrates with living history encampments, tempting food booths, Dam Idol Contest, children’s games, and other activities.  There will be a street dance, fireworks, and much more and best of all, admission is FREE.  It should be great fun!  For more information call 800-325-5916 or check out the completed listing at the Little Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau site.

The Marshik Insurance Agency is pleased to be a sponsor of the annual Habitat for Humanity Benefit Golf Tournament held June 13, 2011 at Pine Ridge Golf Course, Motley.  An excellent fund raiser to help our local Habitat of Humanity of Morrison County organization.

The Marshik Insurance Agency, Little Falls, MN will be hosting a “Parking Lot” event on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 11:00 to 1:00.  AAA Insurance will be present doing Child ID Photo kits.  Little Falls Radio will be on site for one hour doing a live broadcast.  A Morrison County Dairy Princess will be present giving out ice cream cones and root beer floats in honor of Dairy Month.  Balloons and coloring books and other handouts for the kids and some for adults too.  Drawings for some neat prizes.  Stop in to see us at 501 First St. SE, Little Falls, MN on June 8, 2011 between 11:00 and 1:00 p.m.
